Warm-up

  • No warm-up: Yin Yoga classes do not require a warm-up session.
  • Cold muscles: Practicing with cold muscles is ideal for focusing on deep connective tissue.

Number of Stances

  • How many poses: Typically, 5 to 8 poses in one class.
  • Duration of poses: Held for 3 to 10 minutes, depending on the teacher’s choice.

Class Structure

  • Initial stances: Start with more simple stances to prepare the body.
  • Deep stances: Move into deeper stances as the class progresses.

Modifications and accessories

  • Variations and accessories: Provide plenty of options for variations and accessories for each stance.
  • Student comfort: Ensure that students don’t feel pain and allow them to get out of posture if necessary.
  • Variation options: Provide 2 to 4 modification options with accessories.

End of Class

  • Balance: Instead of cooling down, focus on bringing the body into balance.
  • Opposite stances: Include opposite postures to achieve balance.
    • Example: A stance with externally rotated hips followed by one with internally rotated hips.
  • Neutral positions: We return to a neutral position between opposing postures to realign the body.
