About the training in general
What is a yoga teacher training?
A yoga teacher training is a structured, intensive education programme that prepares practitioners to teach yoga competently and responsibly. It covers applied anatomy, yoga philosophy, teaching techniques, class management and supervised practice. The internationally recognised foundational training is the 200-hour YTT, certified by Yoga Alliance.
What’s the difference between the 200h, 300h and 500h trainings?
A 200h training (YTT 200) is the foundational level and the entry point for teaching yoga. The 300h training is advanced, for teachers who have completed the 200h and want to deepen their skills. Together they make up the 500h recognised by Yoga Alliance as the most complete level of teacher training (RYT 500).
Is yoga teacher training only for people who want to teach?
No. Many students take the teacher training purely to deepen their own practice, with no intention of teaching. The training transforms any practitioner’s relationship with yoga — through the study of philosophy, anatomy, pranayama and meditation — regardless of the professional path that follows.
Do I need previous yoga experience to join a teacher training?
BeYoga recommends at least 1–2 years of regular practice before starting. You don’t need to be advanced — what matters is an honest, regular relationship with the practice. The training deepens and structures what’s already there.
Duration and format
How long does a yoga teacher training take in Portugal?
The foundational training (200h) can be completed in an intensive format (4–6 weeks) or a progressive (6 a 10 meses, em fins-de-semana). A BeYoga oferece o formato progressive em fins-de-semana intensives ao longo de aproximadamente 9 meses, em Lisboa, Porto e online.
Can I do the yoga training online?
Yes. BeYoga offers the 200h yoga teacher training online, with the same curriculum, the same trainers and the same mentorship as the in-person cohorts in Lisbon and Porto. The online format includes live sessions, feedback individual feedback and supervised practical components.
Where does BeYoga’s teacher training take place?
BeYoga runs its yoga teacher training in Lisboa (Bambú studio), in Porto (YogArte) and also online. All formats share the same curriculum, certified by Yoga Alliance, DGERT and IPDJ.
When do the next training cohorts start?

Prices and payment
How much does a yoga teacher training cost in Portugal in 2026?
A certified YTT 200h in Portugal costs between €1,800 and €3,200, depending on the school, format and location. BeYoga offers instalment plans to make the investment more accessible. Individual registration with Yoga Alliance (RYT 200) has a separate cost of roughly US$115/year, paid directly to the organisation.
Are instalment plans available?
Yes. BeYoga offers monthly instalments across the training months, making the investment more accessible. For details on payment terms, contact the BeYoga team.
Is the training tax-deductible?
If you work as a certified trainer (with DGERT and IPDJ accreditation), the training may be deductible as a professional training expense in Portugal. This varies by tax situation — we recommend consulting an accountant about your specific case.
Certifications and recognition
Is the yoga teacher training internationally recognised?
Yes, when the school is accredited by Yoga Alliance as an RYS (Registered Yoga School). BeYoga is an RYS 200 and RYS 300 school — meaning your certificate is recognised worldwide. Registered as an RYT with Yoga Alliance, you can teach yoga professionally in any country.
What is the RYT 200 and how do I get it?
RYT 200 (Registered Yoga Teacher 200) is the title granted by Yoga Alliance to teachers who complete a 200h training at an accredited RYS school. After finishing your training at BeYoga, you receive a registration code. With it, you register on the Yoga Alliance website and pay the annual membership fee (~US$115/year). BeYoga guides you through this process.
Does BeYoga hold DGERT and IPDJ certification?
Yes. BeYoga is a Certified Training Provider with DGERT (the Portuguese Directorate-General for Employment and Labour Relations) and IPDJ (the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth). These national certifications, combined with international Yoga Alliance accreditation, make BeYoga’s training one of the most complete available in Portugal.
Can I work as a yoga teacher in Portugal after the training?
Yes. With Yoga Alliance (RYT 200), DGERT and IPDJ certification, you can teach yoga in studios, gyms, companies, schools and independently — in Portugal and abroad. DGERT certification also allows you to invoice as a certified trainer and access IEFP support programmes.
