Therapeutic Yoga practice with BeYoga

Therapeutic Yoga Teacher TrainingAdapting to Physical
and Mental Conditions

A training that brings yoga to people living with pain, physical fragility or emotional challenges: functional anatomy, adaptation to physical conditions and regulation of the nervous system, with ethics and safety.

In 20 hours, you learn to read the body, to adapt postures and sequences to the most common conditions and to support people through stress, anxiety and trauma with breathing, meditation and restorative practices.

Who this training is for

Who want to welcome, with complete safety, students with pain, limitations or emotional fragility, and adapt the practice to each one.

Experienced Practitioners

Who live with a condition, or support someone who does, and want to understand adapted practice.

Objectives

Understand what Therapeutic Yoga is, the five principles of adapted practice and the ethical limits of the teacher

Read the body through functional anatomy: compensations, warning signs and contraindications

Adapt postures and sequences to conditions of the spine and joints, and to respiratory and autoimmune diseases

Support people through stress, anxiety, depression and trauma with breathing, meditation and restorative practices

Assess each student and build personalised plans, with three simulated clinical cases

Inside the course

See the manual and a lesson

Before you enrol, see what the course is made of: the interactive manual, with nineteen photographs of the adaptations and seven anatomy illustrations, and one of the thirty-nine lessons, just as you will find it on the platform.

Ilustração do manual: a coluna vertebral e as suas regiões
Anatomy diagrams. The spine, the muscle chains, disc herniation, scoliosis, and the knee with arthritis and with osteoarthritis.
Guerreiro adaptado com a cadeira a apoiar a coxa da frente
Adaptations in photographs. Nineteen adapted postures, with the chair, the bolster, blankets and blocks.
Ilustração do manual: joelho com artrite e joelho com artrose
Tables and forms. Safe postures by condition, adaptations by region, the intake form, the safety checklist and the individual plan.

Sample lesson · Unit II

Compensations by posture

One of the course lessons, in full: the most common compensations in Downward-Facing Dog, Seated Forward Bend, Warrior, Bridge Pose, the twist and Savasana, and the adaptation that corrects each one.

Every topic of the course has a lesson like this, with Carla, followed by the matching chapter of the manual, and there is a test at the end of each unit.

What this course is, and what it is not. It teaches you to adapt the practice of yoga to people living with a physical or emotional condition, safely and ethically. It does not train clinical therapists: the Therapeutic Yoga teacher does not diagnose, does not treat and does not promise a cure, and works alongside doctors, physiotherapists and psychologists. The manual rests on 65 sources, including the international clinical guidelines for low back pain, osteoarthritis, asthma and hypertension.
