Prana Yoga
Revitalising Yoga
Carla's note
Almost fifty minutes at an advanced level, with an opening that brings together alignment, visualisation, Nadi Shodhana and hip openers. The Sun Salutations include plank, Chaturanga Dandasana, Urdhva Mukha Svanasana, Utkatasana, Bhujangasana and lunges. The peak work moves through Malasana, half moon and an arm balance, which call for hip mobility, stability on one leg and a gradual shift of weight into the hands. Warrior, Savasana and cat-cow close the practice.Carla Gonçalves
The practice, step by step
- 1Alignment, visualisation, Nadi Shodhana and hip openers
- 2Sun Salutations with plank, chaturanga, upward dog, chair pose, cobra and lunges
- 3Malasana, half moon, arm balance, warrior, Savasana and cat-cow
If it is your first time
This is an advanced practice. To do it anyway: knees on the floor in the planks, a block in Malasana and a hand on the wall in half moon. The arm balance is only to watch.
If you already practise
In half moon, open the chest to the ceiling before lifting the hand; in the arm balance, look forward and let the weight move into the hands slowly.
What you need
- mat
- block (optional)
- bolster (optional)
About Prana Yoga
Prana Yoga is BeYoga's own approach: a Hatha practice with conscious breathing from beginning to end, where each pose is built with alignment and the transition matters as much as the arrival. It works strength, mobility and attention at the same time.
