Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga (10 to 20 min)
Carla's note
Thirteen minutes of Yin Yoga, with few poses and holds of several minutes. After a seated opening with shoulders and breath, the practice holds Balasana, a hip opener and a long seated forward bend. The muscles stay relaxed, so that the work reaches the connective tissue of the hips and the posterior chain. The silence between instructions is intentional and is there for observing the breath.Carla Gonçalves
The practice, step by step
- 1Shoulders and breathing, seated
- 2Child's pose and hip opener, held for several minutes
- 3Long seated forward bend and closing
If it is your first time
Go in until you feel the stretch, and no further. In the forward bend, bend the knees and place a bolster under the torso if it helps. The silence is intentional.
If you already practise
Use the silence to count breaths and, halfway through each pose, release a little more without pulling.
What you need
- mat
- bolster (optional)
About Yin Yoga
In Yin, the poses are held for several minutes, on the floor and without effort, to reach the deeper tissues: fascia, ligaments, joints. It asks for patience and gives back space.
